Get To Know Me

My Backstory

I began my professional journey in a peculiar and unconventional way. I, like many, struggled with finding my true passion. I spent many years trying to find my footing in my professional career. But nothing I did satiate my desire for knowledge and growth. I studied business, baking, theatre, art, music, and fashion. No matter how much I changed direction, I could not find my one true calling. I wasted many of my young years taking courses that led nowhere. That is, until, I realized it was there staring me in the face all along. I realized a recurring theme during my journey, something that always remained in the background no matter what course I took: languages.

I love languages!

I love speaking and learning about cultures around the world. I'm fascinated with the symbiotic relationship between language and culture that opens the door to sociocultural nuances, its implications, and the way it shapes the way we think.

My love for languages isn't a foreign idea that was born overnight.

In my years as an undergrad, I have studied Spanish, French, German, Japanese, and American Sign Language. At one point, I combined my love for music and languages that I was able to sing in over 20 different languages! Some of those languages included: Hebrew, Italian, Arabic, Portuguese, Finnish, Swedish, and Russian.

But my love for languages isn't limited to the art of speaking and communicating.

Over the years, I have dedicated my life to building and writing blogs that gathered hundreds if not thousands of views. Whether it be on Yahoo! Answers, Ask.com, Quora, Tumblr, or community forums, I have managed to gain a fair share of followers and readers.

My skills in writing aren't limited to online forums.

Helping others in their writing endeavors was always a passion of mine as the challenging aspects of language has always been appealing to me. You see, language is a living, breathing thing. It changes. It morphs and conforms to the linguistic function of a society and culture. It's reflective of an evolving people and the needs that it serves. It moves with the times and changes our sociocultural perspectives. To put it simply: language influences culture and culture influences language. One cannot live without the other. As long as humans live and communicate with one another, so will language. This is why I'm passionate about languages because it tells us who we are, where we come from, and where it can lead us.

Writing is a skill that can be taught.

My many years of writing experience have helped me hone my skills as a writer. I've taken grammar, technical and creative writing, translating, and interpreting courses and workshops. My desire is to help others who encounter issues with their writing and offer constructive feedback. In return, I ask that you grow with me and that together, we can help make your vision come to life.
